Ah yes, my favorite battle of the war. The ebb and flow of the action.

The hero of Marengo is Desaix. Napoleon was definitely not his top notch self that day.

The Austrian commander, Melas, had the battle won but decided to take a nap in the citadel rather than go through with his plan (to break out to the east). I wonder if he was back in his room watching the the US Open golf tournament!

Does anyone remember the old SPI Quad game "Napoleon at War?" I cut my teeth on that game as far as Napoleonic wargaming goes.

In a tournament game it came down to a 1:2 attack - I had to roll a "1 or 2" to win the atttack. I rolled right and forced the Austrian unit back thus still keeping a French unit within 4 hexes of Marengo.

If only I could roll so well against my opponents!

Marengo? :o

Friedland? :o

:(

Oh, and here I was hoping this was an announcement that those were the next titles that were being released. Outside of Austerlitz, Friedland and the 1807 campaign is my favorite. The Italian campaign is right up there as well.
