Post subject: A Promotion and a Medal
PostPosted: Fri Jun 15, 2012 5:10 pm
The Commander of the Hanoverian Brigade sits quietly in his seat while he listens to the announcement of the recent promotion of 1º Tenente Barredo by his Spanish colleague in arms, Tenente-Coronel Maddis. When the Commander of the Spanish Brigade finishes and retakes his own seat, the Hanoverian Colonel stands and holds aloft a small shot glass of amber liquid. :o :o :o

"Mein Heeren! Congratulations to the fine Spanish warrior, Barredo. May he have many more victories to follow. Congratulations also to the Spanish Cadete Porta-Bandeira LopezGallo, for unless my eyes mistake me, he is wearing a shiny, new Military General Service Medal for his recent victory over a wayward Frenchman. To our beloved Spanish brothers!” :P :P :P

Downing the contents of the shot glass in one gulp, the Hanoverian officer pauses a moment before refilling the glass. :D :D :D

“I also have some announcements to make to this assembly of brave, albeit soon to be tragically intoxicated, men.” Turning toward the officers seated at his table, the Hanoverian raises his glass in the direction of Der Wurger and Die Falke. “Our fine Hanoverian Lieutenant Peccolo is now an esteemed Captain of arms and, although already a Captain himself, Herr Phillips also sports a shiny, new Military General Service Medal for his recent victory over a notably different, but still no doubt wayward, French officer. Congratulations, gentlemen!”

Downing the contents of the shot glass for a second time, the Hanoverian Brigadier says, “It’s a wonder you Frenchies still continue to try.”

Congratulations to all!

Of course, der Frenchies might find der Drinks familiar as I captured many French supplies at Lowenburg. Ja, ja, those Russian Cossacks do have their uses

Well, well, such an occasion of honor, we should have a song! :D Hmmm.... ach ja, I have just der ticket!

Schatz, ach Schatz,
reise nicht so weit von heir!
Im Rosengarten,
da will ich warten im grunen Klee,
im weissen schnee.
Drum, Madchen, weine nicht,
sei nicht so traurig,
mach deinem Jagersmann das Herz nicht schwer.
Wenn wieder Fruling ist,
kehr' ich ja weider,
wisch dir die Tranen ab mit Sandpapieren.

Gloria, Viktoria! :o
Ja, mit Herz und Hand furs Vaterland.

Well done and congratulations. Those Hanovarians can really sing, can they dance as well? We know the crapauds can, one step forward and ten steps back.

Cheers and salutations to all my fellow Allied officers and a heartfelt
THANK YOU for the French-

Sometimes we forget to give due credit to our gallant opponents.

It does take elan de corps to bravely face defeat time and time again.

A respectful toast to our poodle breeding antagonists!

Raise your voices & glasses to them gentlemen, as each medal we won, is also a medal they gave us!
