Mental?
Oh, no wait, he said "Mentors"! Whew! That's a relief. For a minute there, I thought the good Polkovnik was talking about me.
Actually, Andy, there are very good mentors on both sides of the club. If you really want to improve your gaming skills rapidly, I suggest you play with a mentor from the Coalition side in a multi-player game against a superior player and protégée of the opposing side. You see, your senior partner will not want to lose, so he will tell you all of his secrets in the hope that you will survive long enough for him to eek out a Draw and not damage his battle record. And if you happen to stumble up against the senior officer from the opposing side, you will be shown all of his tricks as well as he destroys your troops and rolls through your lines like you weren’t even there. OK, I do admit that it can be painful, but since when was learning something really worthwhile a gimme?
Just telling you how I learned. I think I still have a lot of the bruises, but the good news is that my therapy seems to be progressing well, although I actually think they said "as well as could be expected".
