My sincere congratulations to you, Al, on your recent promotion to the Chief of Staff of LGA's IV Corps! :P :P :P

A shame that your commanders did not see fit to publically recognize your achievement of a position fully deserved, but that does seem to be the way of your army I am afraid. :( :( :(

Perhaps it is some comfort to know that your 'enemies' are watching and paying attention.

But, if you really sit down to think about that, perhaps it really is not a comfort at all.

Congratulations, Al. I sincerely wish you the very best. 8) 8) 8)

Mark,

We had a party for Al at Pierre's. Invitations were sent to all the important dignitaries. Really, everyone that mattered was there. I'd tell you about, but what happens at Pierre's stays at Pierre's.

Apparently, it is also a safe refuge when the mood strikes der Wurger.

All that said, I am not opposed to toasting him once more. Cheers to Lt. Col. Kling and all our fellow officers in IV Corps, and LGA!

My good Marechal Bardon, I must admit that I have long wondered why the vast majority of the French officers never had the temerity to venture outside the smelly confines of Pierre's ramshackle rathole. I always assumed they must be an anti-social lot, swapping lies amongst themselves about the greatness of thier island born Despot. My sincere appreciation for your kind explanation for thier reclusive ways; they simply fear my fine Hanoverians.

Thanks for the earlier recognition, but I like Pierre's Tavern, his pretty redhead barmaid and more importantly I never hear that Hanoverian Singing or should I say caterwauling!

But thanks anyway and of course,

Battle On...........

Ah, it is evident that you Frenchies lack a refined taste for musical masterpieces. I find Der Wurger's voice to have a most pleasing tone and his pitch to be utter perfection.

And in regards to the lovely, red-headed barmaid at Pierre's, it is my understanding that she is actually the Old Grognard's daughter. Should any of you Amorous Warriors of France ever lay so much as a hand on her, I fully suspect that you will subsequently be missing body parts, most likely below the waist!

So now we know why Lieutenant Peccolo does all the singing, some Hanoverian General must have been caught sneaking out of Pierre's Tavern.

The story of Pierre's daughter, Juliet, is well known. It is actually posted on the Forum Board Index as follows:

"Here all officers of La Grande Armée are welcome to sit down and eat, drink and talk with fellow French officers. The Tavern is restricted and the password can be obtained by writing to your Corps Commander. The Tavern is hosted by former Old Guard Sergeant Pierre Desherbiers behind the bar and his lovely daughter Juliet is serving the tables. Welcome ...if you have any problems consult the Management."

That may be true, but spies are everywhere! But we will leave this one alone. And this is suppose to be a friendly string!

And... Thanks to all for the congrats and to the Happy Hanoverian for starting it.

Battle On...

Congratulations LT COL Kling. Perhaps I shall have to visit Pierre's sometime. I hear that even Sir Muddy's horse now frequents that establishment...
