Then either he, or you, should have contacted me nearly a week and a half ago to let me know. Obviously, the two of you have not been communicating. I checked the emails that I sent. Both of you were included in all of them. I am going to send another email now to the two of you. You need to catch up. The deadline remains November 21st and the games will be resolved in accordance with the Tournament Rules. Everyone needs to read the section about the completion expectations for these matches. I spent a lot of time trying to decide a victor in 50+ turn matches last year where only 6 or 7 turns had been completed in 60+ days. I am not going to do that again this year. If you signed up for this tournament, I expect you to play. It requires an incredible amount of my time and effort to host this tournament for the members. When the games are not played, it clearly tells me that my time has been wasted.

I am going to help you fellows all I can, but there are a very many of you, and only one of me. You have to remain responsibly involved for this to work. I actually expect that of you. Last year I was learning the ropes. This year, I will hold you accountable for meeting the deadlines.

Well, I have gone and done it....

I really did not want to do it, but I finally felt that I had no other choice....

I have been forced to ask all of the French officers that signed up to play in the MP Division if they would be willing to play two simultaneous games against two different pairs of Coalition officers. I had hoped that we could get an equal number of French and Coalition officers on each side, but despite the very best efforts of all involved, the French officers just did not sign up as we needed. I have to admit that I am surprised by this fact, but it is what it is. :( :( :(

Once we get all of the French responses back, we will reevaluate where we stand and figure out what we have to do to make the MP Division play a reality for the tournament. We will figure out how to make this work. It is just a matter of what we have to do to actually get there.

Colin Knox is even now evaluating the stock scenario we intend to use for this 'Army Challenge' match. Although the scenario was fairly well balanced in the beginning, we are going to slightly customize it to get it absolutely as fair to both sides as possible. I think I heard Colin muttering something about one side should be all Guard units, and the other side should be all E Morale Conscripts. I told him that I implicitly trusted his judgment. I could feel him grinning at me through my computer screen all the way from New Zealand. The more I think about our conversation, the more uneasy I am becoming. I took him to mean that the Coalition forces would be all Guard, and the French forces would be all E Morale Conscripts, but the more I think about it... :? :? :?

My God, what have I done! Marco really is going to kill me this time!!

Maybe the French officers are slower at buying newer games?

Well, we have made a lot of progress on the players for the MP Division. We only need two more French officers and one Coalition officer and we will be ready to begin tournament play. :o :) :D :P

Cezary, I already have you down for one game. Are you agreeing to play two games?

Excellent, Cezary! That should fill our complement of French officers. Thanks to all who stepped up.

Just a reminder to everyone that tomorrow is the last day to wrap up your Round 1 matches for the SP Division of play. Everyone should send me the final, French movement (to ensure that both players had an equal number of turns) with the turn advanced to the Coalition phase (since I know that password). If the winner is not clearly determined by the End Game Result, and 12 turns have not been completed for each side, then you will need to tell me who advances in the tournament by mutual agreement of the players in the particular game. I will only break a tie by CPD evaluation if a full 12 turns or more have been played by both sides. Remember, if you did not complete 12 turns, the game still rests as a Draw, and you cannot mutually agree on a winner, both officers will be eliminated from further participation in the SP Division of the tournament. I want everyone to work together in a friendly manner to resolve these games. I do not want to be placed in the position of a 'Referee' any more than I absolutely have to be.

As an update on the MP Division play, we are so very close to starting now. I had really hoped to have these matches underway by last weekend, but Colin fell ill which delayed the play balancing of the scenario, and Cliff's recent transfer to the Prussian Army left two vacancies on the French side of the division that we have to fill. Todd Schmidgall was the French player left in the lurch, so if any of you fellows can step up for a game or two as his partner, it would get us back on track. I think Al Kling may have volunteered to be Todd's partner in one of the two slots, but we still need one more. I would partner with Todd myself, but every time I mention it, Generaal Bijl starts throwing around the term "treason", Field Marshall Blackburn begins to reload his musket, and Field Marshall Nelms reverts to looking through his utensil case in an effort to find "just the right one". :P

I know everyone in the States is focused on Thanksgiving this week, and several of you probably have plans to travel and/or spend time with your families. I wish all of you the best this holiday, and for those of you in other countries that don't celebrate the American Thanksgiving, you are all welcome to come on over to our house for a feast. Teri and I would welcome the company. :o :D :P

OK, I would welcome the company........Teri might actually kill me.  :(

That will mean you are now playing two games in the MP Division. Just making sure that is OK with you.

I will get Round 2 of the SP Division started after the weekend. In the meantime, everyone should get ready for the MP Division play and the competition between both sides of our club. The scenario has been created, the teams have been assigned, and we are ready to begin just as soon as I get the website finished, which should be later tonight. Which means I better quit talking, and get back to work.... :P :P :P
