<from a HQ message just brought in by Donkey>

Dear Mr Mark and Mr Ken, or Sir Jones & Jones, or Sir Muddy,

I finally have a break between hostilities with our combined enemy, these miserable French. My servant arranged a good diner with an expensive wine from the French captured supply train and yes, with the light of my small lantern I am able to write you this letter.

This after reading your recent adventures and a victory in a multiplayer game at the Battles of Gzhatsk and Katzbach, wherever that may be. By jove you are selecting places to fight!

I am afraid I have to bring very, very sad news. The King and our Prince were pushing me quite some time to bring you this message. But I simply couldn’t do it. No I could not get the words to the expensive paper I always use. Well, you know what I use. The paper with my own weapon shield that I store in the silver case.

We cannot award you any serious medal like this Order of the something....what was it called?

I tried to tell the King and the Prince that we can award you something else. I proposed to send you Helga. This was refused. Then I offered to send cheap wine and cigars from my own huge eh, small stock. But no, it was not good enough. They proposed to award you something else.

So, after a long discussion last night with various important staff ladies..eh officers we decided that we cannot longer avoid to award you:

The Meritorious Service Medal for Mr Ken Jones and the
Army gold cross to Mr Mark Jones.

Well, there is nothing more to say. I am sure you will often think about the good old times and will further dream about that gardening award or Garter, I am lost.. But there is no turning back now.

Greetings Sir, with honour and respect,

Salute!

Gzhatsk, the very name freezes the marrow of the Tiraill... I mean Chevalier.

There was a terrible battle fought upon the banks of that river...

But when fighting the best, one is learning from the best.

Congratulations to both of these excellent officers! 8)

Regards,

What no award for Sir Muddy's horse? We all know who the grand strategist is in that pair. As for MG Jones, well what can we say? I supposed he should get a days reprieve from transporting the Field Marshall thunder pots!

In all seriousness congratulations to my friends Muddy and Mark. :D

I must say, Generaal Bijl, but your HQ tent does like quite cozy. I thank the King and my Countrymen for this fine award, but I would very much like to spend the evening at your tent with the Lady.

I must thank you as well, Generaal Bijl, and offer a salute to my battlefield companion, Sir Muddy, and his fine steed. It is my honor to abide in such notable company while serving our most beloved king. :P :P :P

Congratulations to the Jones boys. Now I know the meaning of the saying --- keeping up with the Jones's. :)

Congratulations, Messieurs Jones.

<Salute>

Now, if you would be so kind as to step outside of the tavern, I've arranged a special and most fitting salute from the Emperor. I promise that his beautiful daughters will shower you with all of their affection, perhaps even feed you some grapeshot..... :P
