Geoff Reeves has now graduated from the academy and has joined the Anglo II Corps in the KGL. He has wisely avoided the Hanoverians who are a dodgy lot.

Welcome to the army, Geoff. You are surely a skilled officer indeed in you have avoided the Hanoverians. Most of the French find that utterly impossible to do themselves. :?

Drinks all around, Helga! All on our newest Ensign's tab of course. :D :P

Hmmm....

From the manifest I have in front of me, it looks like Ensign Reeves was assigned the command of the 2nd KGL Light Dragoons. :? :? :?

It looks like he did not actually succeed in avoiding the 'Hanoverians' after all.

Salute!

L'Chevalier enters the common room of the tavern to see a welcome party in full swing for officers for both sides of the Napoleonic Wars Continuum.

"Welcome Ensign Reeves! I don't mind if I wet my whistle upon your purse while it yet retains some of your King's coin (ugh, that word King leaves such a foul taste in one's mouth  - better make that a double :) ).

I don't know about dodgy, but I would use menagerie to describe the Hanoverians.

Welcome Geoff. I hope you maintain your uniform better than the rest of that Hanoverian rabble though.
Enjoy your efforts to deny liberty to the people of Europe.
And again welcome and have fun!

"Liberty to the people of Europe"

Oh, that is rich.

What the good Marechal means by this, Ensign Reeves, is that the French are on a quest to liberate the people of Europe. They will 'liberate' them from their livesock, homes, wealth, daughters, wives, and lives. Do not be fooled by these well dressed Brigands, young sir. They are nefarious in the extreme and the sooner we rid the continent of their perfidious ilk, the better.

Now that we seem to have clarified that misunderstanding, please join me for a drink, my most lethal friend. Margeauex, I believe.

Salute!

L'Chevalier is glad to see two of the legendary officers in these wars hard at their drinking, and looks to join them at their table.

Margeauex, a welcome respite from the usual drink of jager-liquor the Hanoverian Maj Gen is often found to be shooting.

Ah, my friend, I agree on the accounts of liberating the wealth of the first two estates to be sure.

As for the wives and daughters, well, our beloved Tondu has instituted the advancement by merit - and who can blame the womenfolk of the Coalition countries if they do but agree?

Regards,

Welcome Ensign! Now, since we're drinking on your tab let me tell you about the time I was in Spain and ran into a squadron of Hussars and me with nothing but a soup ladle...well, maybe we'd better wait until you've had a few battles under your belt before I tell you that one.

Helga, Helga, was ist Herr Feld Marshall Moss trinken? Oh! Milche ,
....Hmmmm. Einmal heir bitte.

:? Ja, ja, es ist die Beste! Wir muss ein leid singen :D

Ja, ja, musik macht das Welt go around! :D Ja, ja, auf English...

Now some folks'll tell you that drinkings a curse,
Others'll tell you it's quite the reverse, :D
Some people drink all their days to employ,
Some drink in haste aye and some drink for joy,
Some drink when they're christened and some when they're wed,
Some drink your jolly good health when you're dead,
Some drink on all these occasions, like I,
For I drank at my birth and I'll drink 'til I die. :D

And I means to get jolly well drunk, I do,
I means to get jolly well drunk, I do,
As long as I'm here, I'll stick to my beer,
I means to get jolly well drunk, I do.

I'll drink 'til the high price of coal becomes small,
'Til ale and roast beef they cost nothing at all,
And I'll drink 'til men have no more reason to strike,
And man values work just as much as he likes,
I'll drink 'til the laws give a man no denial,
For taking a wife for a month upon trial,
'Til Dukes and the Lords have to sort clean from dirt,
And the young Prince of Wales has to wash his own shirt.

And I means to get jolly well drunk, I do,
I means to get jolly well drunk, I do,
As long as I'm here, I'll stick to my beer,
I means to get jolly well drunk, I do.

I'll drink 'til the landlords all choke as they guzzle,
And I mean to keep drinking 'til Bobbies are muzzled,
'Til dandies are worth nowt but the clothes they put on,
I'll drink 'til Old Peabody's moneys all gone,
I'll drink 'til the laws of the land are made fair,
That punish a poor man for killing a hare,
And I'll drink 'til all wealth is shared out among men,
And I'll drink and I'll drink 'til it's shared out again.

And I means to get jolly well drunk, I do,
I means to get jolly well drunk, I do,
As long as I'm here, I'll stick to my beer,
I means to get jolly well drunk, I do. :D

Welkommen Herr Reeves, :D
Helga, Helga, Mehr Beir Heir! :D

Gentlemen, oh, and French officers of course - thank you for the very warm welcome!

While most of my troopers are Hanoverian, there are a smattering of English officers in the KGL to bring some order to the proceedings. I look forward to teaching the French a lesson they won't soon forget!

I also look forward to getting to know many of you as we do battle. My very public thanks to FM Moss, who was a very able trainer.

PS: please pardon the signature block - it is a work in progress - and quite massive I now realize too. I'll adjust it to a more reasonable size when I get a moment.
