Are there any plans to update the HPS title Napoleon's Russian Campaign? Last update was in March 2007. Updating so the disk is no longer required would be beneficial. All other HPS titles appear to have been updated in 2012 and 2013. Perhaps the NRC title is just the last in the series to be updated.

It has been discussed in the past, but I am not aware that anything much has been done, or when it will be.

Is HPS Napoleon's Russian Campaign popular with the rank and file..........compared to others in the series.

I currently own only three Napoleonic titles and I am looking to purchase another.

The three I own are Waterloo, Austerlitz and Jena.

Any suggestions.

Rich Hamilton put a beta patch up on the SDC a while back but we found some issues and I've not seen anything since but I can tell you that they have worked on it.

Salute!

Hi Clint, I would recommend either Leipzig or Eckmuhl as your next purchase of games.

Eckmuhl and Leipzig are both fairly popular among the club members - and I would say that Leipzig offers more bang for your dollar with the number of and variety of scenarios - but Eckmuhl is impressive in it's own right in variety as well - loads of alternate versions of the historical battles.

As for the discussion of games that play without the disc inserted into the computer - Jena and NRC are the two I have that don't do that yet...

Regards,

Todd,
thanks for the info...........just what i was looking for.

Jena was recently updated..............I did it and you will not need the disk any longer.

Ah, good to know.
I've added the update but keep inserting the disc out of habit I guess.

I think Leipzeig is the way to go before Eckmuhl. I personally like NRC myself as I find the Russian Campaign to be fascinating.

Thanks for the correction. Mark. I was aware of the work on that latest patch. I was about to download it, but waited once I heard there were problems as I had an ongoing game in NRC that I did not want to damage. Ah, memory loss is a viscious fiend....

NRC is really an underutilized game. There are a lot of scenarios and it is a really, really good game. I also think that Campaign Bautzen is a good game too with a lot of different scenarios and the Russo-Swedish War in it too. I personally am always looking for folks to play NRC with. The game is well designed and offers a lot of different choices.
