Interesting, David.

I preserved my original post concerning the nominations for the Club Public Relations Officer in its entirety in the Reading Room Forum. I specifically did so in order that I would not be guilty of 'Censorship'.

I am curious as to what manner you preserved your original post so that you would not be guilty of 'Censorship'. Not to worry though, because the reality of the situation is that I retain a copy of every post that is ever placed in our Club Forums so that it cannot be lost for our Club Records. Should you ever wish to restore your original text, just let me know and I will be very glad to send it back to you.

Seriously you want to go back to it? I am trying to move on...

First of all, yesterday I found that the nomination topic had been edited here: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=14026
So I decided to remove what I had said in this (where we are now) topic since it didn't make sens without the posts in the nomination topic. Then I discovered that all had been moved to viewtopic.php?f=41&t=14039 in the off topic forum.

I didn't cry for censorship, I just edited my messages.
As for method of preserving my posts I don't preserve them in any place other than the forum. So when it's gone it's gone.

To finish on that topic, I go back to what I enjoy most: taking care of my games, taking care of my corps and vote when I have to vote, voice my opinion when I feel like it.
And for voicing my opinion on club matters I won't have much to say now since at least 90% of the club is happy with the state of things.

And I won't send any email to the Cabinet either since some members of the cabinet take it as a joke: viewtopic.php?p=78531#p78531

To answer your first question, David, I most certainly do not want to retrace the previous path. Not even remotely.

Your editing of the initial post which you placed in this thread made this thread difficult to follow. Impossible really, since the very first post that started the conversation was gone, along with even the original title of the post. The wording of your first edit did not "cry censorship", but it certainly implied it, and an implication is a form of attack, albeit more subtle.

I am very glad to hear that you are going to redirect your focus to more productive endeavors for your army, but would encourage you to raise your sights to the bigger picture of our club. That is my hope for every member, because our club will only ever be what we make it to be, good or bad.

Here is the lesson that I want every, single member of our club to learn today. Are you fellows listening? Do I have your attention?

Everything you post in our forums is saved to a hard drive. You cannot make a direct attack on anyone, go back a couple of days later and delete your words, and then six months later deny that you ever made the attack in the first place. What you say is recorded and stored. If you say it, you better mean it. If you mean it, there is no purpose in ever deleting it. If you said it and try to claim otherwise at a later date, it is almost certainly going to come back and bite you in the butt.

The same is true for every email that ever crosses my computer screen. They get saved for the records and future reference.

Now, I am not picking on David here. Not at all. I have no idea how what was originally said in this particular thread will play out into the future. Hopefully there will not be any long term ramifications. What I do know is that the record will always exist.

Mean what you say, and stand by it, but say what you must in a polite and respectful manner. Let us always strive to be mature adults in our conduct. We can do much better than what we have recently witnessed. It is my fervent hope that we shall. Let's work together to make this club better than it ever has been.

And slipping back into my Hanoverian personae...

"Helga, a shot of Jagermeister for the assembled crowd. Yes, yes, even for the Munchkin's Minions (love that phrase!). They can forgo their milk just this once as long as we don't keep them up past their bedtime."

You can certainly read whatever you want there. But there was no attack... Just you reading what you wanted from it... just remember that my post was in response to that:

Gentlemen, this is a Nomination Thread only. As I clearly explained in my email to every member of our club, the Campaign Speeches do not begin until after all candidtates have been nominated and agreed to stand for election. To do otherwise is to take unfair advantage of the members who may yet be nominated. Please refrain from Campaign Speeches until after the Nomination Period is closed.

If you recall before that I asked questions as we were invited to in your initial post and I nominated someone. I didn't participate to the "campaigning". I just made that comment:

 I tried to raise my sights to the bigger picture of the club as you say but was told that what happen in the Coalition army was for coalition officers or that I was a soar loser. There wasn't much space for an exchange of ideas either.

"Now, I am not picking on David here." no you are not, you are just making that statement because it came to your mind without particular reason.

For the record, I don't back up because I though I was wrong. I stopped participating to that useless conversation because I understood that whatever I say will make no difference with you. After hitting a wall of bricks for some time I just got fed up of waisting energy for something that is not worth it.

I haven't stopped being a corps commander during this period. I do my job and I hope that one day I will receive an email from the system telling me when one officer from my corps is eligible for a higher rank or a medal.

I also don't need a sermon.

And as for being adult and mature, remember the email I sent to the cabinet a few weeks ago entitled "No confidence in the Cabinet" on the 12 of February 2014 where I said that it was sad to see the 5 men of the cabinet unable to reach an agreement. You never responded to it not that I was expecting you would but I was hoping at least that 5 grown men would be able to solve their problems behind closed doors.

I am not afraid to speak my mind when I have to. I said what I had to say, now if you want to use any of my posts against me please go ahead. That will be fine with me, it will be fine and maybe a little bit ridiculous. And then thinking about it, I would suggest that you put back the messages I edited so everybody will see how menacing I was.

As for saving all the conversations of the forum, what can I say? It sounds weird. Please let me know when we will have to consult a lawyer before posting something here. Are we still a club of wargamers? But I guess 99.5% of the members of the club will find this ok.

My apologies, David. I really am not singling you out like you take it to be. I tend to be very direct at times. There have been other instances of members posting 'mean' things in our forums which were later removed as if they never occurred. Perhaps they thought better of thier comments after the fact, or maybe they just realized the posts were not helpful to thier cause, whatever that particular cause may be. Who knows? It is very difficult to discern the true motives of another person. Harder still if you have never even met them face to face.

The point I was really trying to convey was that everyone should be courteous and polite when posting in our public forums, or at least as much as they can be. And by all means, personal attacks should always be avoided.

It is very easy to be lulled into a false sense of security that we can safely hide behind our computer screens and lash out at one another with complete impunity. Our computers can be dehumanizing. The same is true for the fictitious uniforms we wear in the NWC 'Armies'. All of these factors can make us forget that we are real people and fellow wargamers. This is not a new concept. I have expressed it many times before.

I am willing to bury the hatchet with you, David. If you are truly sincere in your desire to do so, I am standing right here (so to speak).
