Clint,

Rich posted this a couple of days ago. Still unofficial but this is a 1.08 version

http://fly.hiwaay.net/~tiller/tmp/NRC_108.exe

The newest item in the thread was from 3/17 at the very top. Hope that helps.

Clint.

Do you mean SB_FBorodino NoFix. I too get that error message. It works in the older version 1.06. I've tried copying the scn, oob and pdt files to 1.07 and it works. There is an error on the pdt file for 1.07.

Hope that helps.

Hey Andy, so my version says 1.08 and I can open the scenario you mentioned with no issues.

Gentlemen

A great sadness, still at least it will make NRC more playable.

I finally got mine to work with ver 8 update.

everything looks good and it says ver 8 under "about" column.

extract was not extracting correctly.

I had to manually place the files in "map" and "info" and main file.

thanks to all

My issue with those scenarios, by the way, is that a Saxon hussar shows up with the image of Polish cavalryman in the unitbox when there are several perfectly good Saxon alternatives. There are also several Italian artillerymen that should probably be Saxons.

It's too bad there isn't an easy way to substitute one unit icon for another, they are all on one tiled BMP. Maybe there are special graphics programs to deal with this?

I have a vague recollection from the time that I was doing this kind of thing with Bill Peters that there is a program that, if fed enough parameters, will highlight every instance of something occuring in a file. But you really wouldn't want it to make changes to things automatically, because these oob files are finnicky and error-prone as it is, so you always need to be sure that you know exactly what has been put in there. The worst part is that the oob files seem to thrive on acquiring invisible space marks at the ends of lines, which throws the whole thing out of whack.

Having said that, I approached the powers that be requesting a few changes to eliminate the conflicts, but was essentially told that it was too much work.

After taking a closer look at the problem I determined that there are a total of seven numbers that need to be changed in each of the oob files except one, and that for optimal results two units had to be added to the units bitmap (there are plenty of blank spaces) and one unit image needed to be adjusted (it was missing a lance). So in the latest version of my NRC mod (which I uploaded a few minutes ago) I've made the neccessary changes to the units bitmap and adjusted the seven numbers on all twenty-eight oob's. Most of the oob's probably didn't need to be changed, but I wanted to be absolutely sure that my changes flowed through to the Campaign games, and since I never worked with the designers of this particular game, I felt it better to err on the side of caution.

The version number of the mod in question is 4.2, and it has only been uploaded to the box account. What you'll see, if you load this version of the mod, is that the Saxon artillery units are no longer sporting Italian flags, and that the Saxon Hussar is now a Saxon and no longer a Polish Hussar (with flag to match). I've only tested this in the main Gorodetchna scenario and it seems to work. If something untoward happens in one of the other scenarios please let me know (there's always the possibility of spaces sneaking in at then ends of lines, which can cause chaos).

I don't have that title but appreciate your work on it, such games always need someone to take care of them.

There are a few program that let you compare files like http://winmerge.org (since oob is a simple text file).
It's even possible to use something online like that:
