On trying to upload the avatar I use on all forums I am a member of I discovered that the following restrictions apply: "Avatars must be at least 100 pixels wide and 130 pixels high, but no larger than 100 pixels wide and 130 pixels high."
My avatar is small, but square, and therefore can not be displayed. I'm ok with maximum dimensions to prevent people having huge avatars which take up too much space, but I'm not sure it is necessary to prescribe such precise restrictions such as minimum dimensions and impose total conformity.
No minimum dimensions and max 120 width would work for me (at this width it wouldn't take up any more horizontal space than the date/time joined line below the avatar). I also note that the maximum file size is 6Kb, which is far less than other forums I use, and, since we have to link to off-site locations to rather than being able to upload to this site, I'm not sure we need this restriction. But 20Kb would work.
What say you, forum admins?
