I would not discount what one person says but take it under consideration that maybe he has a point. In as far a survey goes, no body likes back in forth, it leads to divorce 8) 8)

16 is good. We owe a lot of thanks to Hakan for that. :)

Now I will say that the French have done a good job recovering from their past decline. It was done because they engaged in active leadership & good presence on the forum building a public image & profile. Their "brand" was a good seller for new recruits. It is some of the same philosophies & reasons I used to "brand" the Prussians with an image. It works. I rebuilt the Prussians twice from 10/15 members to 30 in my career there. It is all about engaging folks, not just on the forums, but via email too and interacting with them. Basic leadership principles. It works. Not just in this Club but in all others and on other activities online not related to wargaming. The fact remains that you can take a dated series and get good life out of it, if you work at it. The CCC hasn't had a new HPS game in almost a decade, but we are still finding ways to get folks involved. We are not anywhere near our 20+ members each year we saw in the mid-2000's, but we are turning the corner now after some downtime. We have 6 new members since the start of the year which is more than half we had in all of 2013. For many of the same reasons why as here and the ACWGC used some time back. Many I cite above. Building an image and a brand, finding places to market, use tracking data to be successful at it. Engage your officers, retention systems. Calling back former members and get them to rejoin. Tournament, fun and what not. Many principles that have helped turn things around here for various armies that were on the slide for a while. One side cannot claim credit in it over any others, it has been done by all and is a concentrated effort, often subconscious and goes without a lot of fanfare or notice.

So it is all how you approach your processes. I won't argue about rules or anything or politics, as that has nothing to do with why folks are coming or whatever.

We owe a lot of thanks to those who work now but also those who laid foundations in the past.

As a courtesy, so folks can get a good idea, I will share the last 90 day stats of people coming to the main club page, not the forum, but the actual Club page. I checked yesterday and I was really surprised. I use this in the other Clubs, but also for a historical society I volunteer at. I actually found out we got some hits from a conversation I never knew existed, that Walt Moehle had at another venue, unknown anyone until now. Also I will note a very good visitation from HistWar's page, no thanks to Hakan himself. :)
