Mark, like all true British people - Mr Sheffield aside - has Seen The Light. Major is far easier on the Anglo-Saxon tongue than Chef de Batallion, which requires one's face to contort into unnatural shapes.

Of course you can continue the party in Pierre's but the champagne may be a bit flat. :frenchwink1:

Welcome to 2/44th Regiment of Foot Mark!

"It is always good to see a Frenchman transition to the side that supports order and good sense, Coronel Bradshaw", says the Chief of Staff of the Coalition Army as he pours another shot of Jagermeister.

"Please, pull up a chair, Major Hornsby", continues the Hanoverian Guardsman as he gestures to a nearby, vacant chair. "We have much to discuss about your new future in our army. Pay no attention to the ill wishes of Marechal Kling regarding your future victories. They are albeit assured now that you have donned that fine, red British coat."

"Helga, please be a dear and bring Major Hornsby a clean glass and a bottle of his favorite libation, and put the expense on my tab until the Major can find his feet. Welcome to the winning side, Major. God save our beloved King!"

Isn't there a paradox there?

Firstly to all my new comrades thank you for the welcome and I look forward to leading the 2/44th Regiment of Foot (East Essex) to glorious victories. I hope I can emulate the their real glory of capturing a French Imperial Eagle at the Battle of Salamanca.

Secondly to all my opponents, Battle will resume shortly, sorry for my delay but I have just started my new job as a BT Cable Laying Engineer and my partner has got worse in her illness so fighting on many fronts, trying to stem the tide but at this point failing miserably. :frenchsad:

Richard I may have to concede the game to you as you have whipped me good and proper but I look forward in fighting along side you maybe in a few weeks a multiplayer battle alongside yourself and Clifton Seeney. :frenchsalute:

Einar again sorry for the delays but I think our battle will be more exciting now I'm on the right side. :scottishduh:

I shall join you for a drink Major-General Jones and toast 'King and Country' before I join my regiment. :frenchdrunk:

And now I shall go to my regiment and await my orders.

I wish you well in your new position Mark but not too much. :frenchwink: :frenchwink: :frenchwink: :nappy: I recently completed the same journey as you have although in reverse order, indeed you now have charge of my former command and a good one it is too.
If, after settling into your new H.Q. you were to discover a bottle of exceptional Scotch I would be grateful if you would ship it to me as I appear to have mislaid it and I still haven’t managed to get used to French Brandy. :displeased:

I hope everything goes well for you in real life. Who knows, we may meet on the battlefield one day.

Thank you John and Jim, I didn't realise how deep those holes were especially when I'm climbing down into them.

Ahhh so that's who the bottle of Scotch belonged too, I must apologise John :frenchdrunk: as I think I may have drunk it :frenchdrunk: hell that was one fine bottle of scotch, do you have anymore laid about. I shall see if one of my new comrades in one of the Scottish regiments can lay their hands on a fresh bottle for you and have it sent by courier to your tent. :frenchcharge:
