Failte and welcome on ye, Goodwin laddie. If ye fear God, love yer King, and heed Mr. Natta's words ye'll ne'er gae far wrong. Many a "Good Win" do I wish fer ye, over the base rebels who dare oppose the Crown. That's me on the end stool in Ft. Ticonderoga, the canny Scot wi' the empty glass. Hint, hint.

Welcome to the maelstrom that is His Majesty's Centre Column Corporal Goodwin! I hear you were sober throughout your training - a sad failing that we will attempt to redress as soon as may be [:o)] .....at your own expense of course. And never ones to let a man drink alone, we will allow you the singular honour of providing the entire Column with double rums. Then its off to the battlefield with you Sir, to teach the rebels and their French lackeys the meaning of British steel. Huzzah!
God save the King!

Heck, it will cost twice that for an interpreter to figure out what Mr. Hipkins is saying! [:D]

I have attempted to translate for Mr Hipkins. Essentially, if you use the words " Congratulations on your .......)" "It is your turn to buy a round " or "down with the rebellion", you can pretty much have the entire conversation covered.[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][;)]

Have I grown so predictable as that, Ernie? Well, as me old Granny Moscowitz used tae say, "Get yer finger outta there, that's why you're always bleeding!" Come, now, fellae soldiers, and sing wi' me that guid old school song, as I wax philosophical:

Immanuel Kant
Was a real pissant
Who was very rarely stable.
Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy beggar
Who could drink you under the table!
David Hume
Could out-consume
Schopenhauer and Hegel,
And Wittgenstein
Was a beery swine
Who was just as schlossed
As Schlegel.
There's nothin' Neitsche couldn't teach ya'
'Bout the raising of the wrist.
(Socrates himself was permanently pissed!)
John Stuart Mill
Of his own free will
On half a pint of shandy was
Particulary ill.
Hegel (they say)
Could stick it away,
Seven quarts of whiskey
Every day.
Aristotle, Aristotle
Was a bugger for the bottle,
Hobbes was fond of his dram,
And Rene Descartes
Was a drunken fart,
"I drink - therefore I am!"
Yes, Socrates himself is particularly missed -
A lovely little thinker
But a bugger when he's pissed!

Very good Mr. Hipkins, very good indeed.

Congratulations good Corporal, well deserved I'm sure.

Now if either or both of you Lobsterbacks would be interested in earning another promotion send a courier and let's arrange a little fight. [;)]
