To all who are concerned,
I certainly did not resign to get challenges, I resigned because when I wished to play no one except for two wished to oblige me. don't get me wrong I also have a full time job and a family wargaming is my hobbie and beilve me I will not stop (currantly playing 6 foes at the Blitz) I really wanted to learn about 18 century warfare And I will offer one reason I live 15 miles from the Saratoga Battle Field and I spent two weekends (yes with my wife and child) whatching the reenactment of that great battle and very interesting you all should have been there. But I certainly will not beg for a game. Too bad you are all too good to play with a beginer.Next time just get off of your backsides, stop squeezing those black heads and help someone else for a change. This is the last time I enter the CCC web site, if anybody needs to contct me use my e-mail address.[xx(]

I think this person is better off leaving if he feels this way. Pardon me for saying. I feel this last post was in very poor taste. I know it is hard at times to get a match and it is hard to not get to many a match. I myself am involved in three clubs with a half dozen matches in each at times. Patience is needed in these clubsdo to real life issues and other happenings. I guess some fail to realize this. I wish the SGT luck in the future and hope that maybe he'll open hiseyes someday think about this and come back, but if he doesn't, well life goes on. If this offends anyone I am sorry but this post got me alittle hot, I hope my actions are not out of line nor do I hope I misread this if so I am sorry.

Tony,
While I don't want anyone to leave, I do tend to agree with you. I'm currently playing games across 5 clubs, and so usually can only take games on when one of my current ones ends, so I can't respond to every challenge that comes along. I do try though when I am able to give the "newbies" a chance to play.

In the end, this is a hobby of patience, a virtue he seems to lack.

New members who wisely choose to take some training and advice from veterans on both sides generally fare better than those that decline the offer, because besides the valuable playing information, training imparts a sense of what the CCC is all about and introduces to them a certain "protocol" that the club follows. As you chose to totally forego any training or advice, you missed out on this headstart material. So your plea to "help someone else for a change" is sort of ludicrous. I believe I even offered to give you some personal training after your first game defeat, right?

Your charge that, "you are all too good to play with a beginer", is dead wrong. Many vets don't consider it quite cricket to beat up on newbies, it's that plain and it's that simple. Surely you know that, with your experience in other gaming clubs. Why risk crushing a new player's enthusiasm with one devasting defeat after another, like almost happened to me early on? [:I] And if I remember correctly, two of the club's better players DID accept your challenges, so where's the beef?

And a bit cheeky of you to resort to insults. You even chide us after three members offered you games replying to your resignation. That's pretty darned generous of those lads I think! So you see? You had no idea that this is a fairly laid back club with infrequent and little turmoil, and most likely with far fewer blackheads than can be squeezed on "the Blitz".

I have to agree with General Natta and Garry McClellan. I did not takethe training and well my record speaks for itsself [;)] But I wentafter te higherups as well as the ones at my own rank. Win loose or not to many adversaries, I still remaind patient. Sometimes I am slow in returning files, sometimes others. I try and let my battle buddies know when I will be slow at returning files, and they me. As GEN Natta points out this is a laid back club and over all I hardly ever see any contraversies as in the other clubs. I enjoy each club for its own special quirk. It is as Clint Eastwood said in HEART BREAK RIDGE, "Improvise, Adapt, and Over Come" I look at it this way, if you find the club lacking in something, do your best to change it, getting in a tough and quiting is not the way. Get involved in other aspects of it, i.e. leadership positions, cabinent, and so on. I find this club to be tops in the bannter at the taverns [;)] and I have yet to meet someone that I do not like or would not play again. Even if they Are misguided in their loyalty to that FAT WANNA BE GERMAN UPSTART OF A KING [:D] Hey I had to end this on a high note. [8D]

HogWash! and darned insulting. I looked at the challange and gave it due consideration, but did not want to "beat up" on a newbie. I'm not trying to be cocky .. just saying that I thought about it. He may have whipped my arse

Are we now supposed to answer all challanges whether we're busy or not ... are we now all expected to make daily jaunts to the tavern to "get in line" ... can we no longer play at our respective paces .... ????

The last challange I accepted here is mired in the mud as I wait patiently for a file (23 days now).

And I venture to say that way less then 50% of our members come to the tavern in the first place. Whatever happened to the friendly email requesting a match?

This may all be "off base" .. I just got home and I'm tired. If it is .. please accept my sincerest apologies to any I've offended.

Speaking of playing at our respective paces...would that be a 30" or 26" pace, my dear general? hehehehehe.....

If you put that definition on it Al then, at my age, I don't pace at all ... I shuffle Image

Well fellas I find this totally out of order and a load of rubbish. Not worth the virtual parchment it is written on. However, I will make a few comments if I may...

It makes sense that experienced playings think they are too good to play with beginners. That's a no brainer. I would think most of them are trying not to look like bullys by taking easy points off a beginner.

What I do know is that the experienced players are generally extremely accommodating (and friendly for that matter) and will take on new players if they can fit it into their busy playing schedules.

They are jolly well helpful as well. I will always be grateful for Al taking me on in my first ever PBEM game - poor blighter. There was no training game when I first started but from my experience in the other clubs (NWC, MBC, ACWGC) training is invaluable. Training provides great tips on game play as well as advice on how the club operates. It also is a bit of a barometer (sp?) as to your skill level.

I am sure if a plea went out that a player was having trouble finding a match somebody would make an effort to play...just look what happened when the "I resign" post went up.

This club is one of the most enjoyable clubs around. Well run, generally good natured and most importantly...fun.

Well, I am usually quite willing to take on a newbie. Since I think he will benefit from the experience of playing someone whose ears haven't been wet for quite a while, and since I am more than willing to give even a Rebel tips on gameplay during such a fight, I wouldn't consider this unfair picking at a newbie.
In the case in question here, though, I was immediately put off by his behaviour. When very friendly asked by some members, including me, to indicate his rank and unit on his challenge, so we would know which side he was on, he went absolutely ape and starting insulting us, saying he had come here to play the game, and not to do infantile roleplaying, and since he was too good for that he would withdraw his challenge (quoting the meaning of his message from memory).
Of course after that I had no desire to play him.

<br />Nik,

Yes that was a fun game. I think we are due another one. How about it? One of my home made ones? Crank up one and let's ... (uh, almost said let's roll...that's been way over done, imo) ... get at it [:)].

Weak ZOC please.

Did some one mention bully[;)][;)] You know I haven't had a club win don't you...[:D]

On a more serious note it will be my pleasure. I'll be in touch later on in the week if thats OK. If there is one that you would especially like to play give us a bell prior.

Wahoo into the breach...[B)]
