I'm not sure on an amount, but this is certainly worth something. To be able to play a real campaign where you have total strategic control of where your troops go is something the current game engines just won't do. And I know from personal experiance how much work it takes to do the kind of background work you are talking about Al. $10 per battle certainly doesn't sound unreasonable, especially for a game that will last a couple of months most likely...
