Larry,

This idea is also to make BIG games play quicker. For the average size game, I agree that companies should be represented. Once armies start hitting 13,000 men, then 20 man companies is a bit tedious.

Try it you may like it.

The Colonial Army deployment looks good.

Now on to the Brits...

Al - hey, could I get a copy too? BTW I am playing Ralf Konnertz using a modified OB file. The Militia have 4 hex rifles/bayonets in this Brandywine OB. This way the range is not too great.
Also we agreed that they could go into X formation as could the Lights of course. So far his Lights on his right flank have done alright but he is pulling back from my more numerous militia.
Also - I would like to see X formation NOT get the road bonus. Would make them have to switch to Column in order to benefit by the road.

Bill Peterson - what the guys here are mainly talking about is that the American militia can keep their distance from the British with that nasty 9 hex range. If the British advance AND Line Movement Disruption is ON then they run the risk of routing faster as if/when they disrupt due to movement in Line they fall prey easier to getting routed by future firing. If you add in the Rifles Effect rule it gets even nastier! Your Indians were caught in the woods with nowhere to go. Your better move would have been to have marched immediately for the main body towards the lake. Then you could have used them as skirmishers along with your formed infantry. What you didnt know about this scenario was that the corner you chose to back up into was where my militia arrived! I not only had you in X formation but also ROUTED as you came into the dreaded Protected Zone for my reinforcing militia.
