Where does he live, who can help that is nearby[?]

Sir, I am not sure that NAV is the solution - I think that the techs that have worked on the PC have probably gone that route already with a boot disk that can look over the drive. NAV and McAffee all have their limits and there are sometimes when the lousy virus does win.
I think in the long run he would need a new drive anyway so now is the time. I can get a drive out to him if he needs it. If you are interested in helping him out perhaps you could buy him the controller card it would need. Drop me a line about the specifics if Sean takes me up on my offer.
