Colonial Campaigns Club (CCC)

I was wondering if this TV film was any good and worth spending money on, or is it another silly Hollywood Patriot movie ?

A bit talky if you're looking for action, of which there's not a lot of. Pretty comprehensive if you want to dig into the details of the event. Jeff Daniels does a great job as George Washington. I give it 3 wigs out of 5. [:D]

As for as the gold is concerned, just take a couple of regulars and bust into Buck and Snort's shanty cabin and inform the rascals that taxes have been increased by decree of their good King George. Do not let them try and talk you into taking that vile beast of theirs in lieu of payment! [:(!]

The story was based on a novel written by Howard Fast, so dialogue is made up, and some events are fictitious like an attack on an outpost by Alexander Hamilton. The movie has the British clothed in F&I era uniforms, and the attack is during nice weather instead of a snowstorm....but it was not a bad movie, no where near as bad as "Revolution". It was at least a decent try by the filmmakers. I would buy it, despite my tendency to pick those things apart. At least the whole family can watch it, there might be a ribald comment I think, but it captures the feeling of the event pretty well.

What do you guys think is the best movie on the Revolutionary War?

Here's a link to 13 short reviews of movies of the era, not all of them about the ARW though. Can anyone add any other titles to a woefully short list? Of the movies reviewed Barry Lyndon is the best of the lot IMO.

I would agree with Phil, Barry Lyndon is the best of the lot for this period. Though Michael Mann's Last of the Mohicans is the very best Colonial era war film.[:D][:D]

I would vote the worst movie as Mr Gibson's the Patriot, it is more like a Nazi propaganda movie![:(!]
