Late this afternnon and evening the SW parts of the US and parts of Mexico will be able to view this event.

I know the battle of Isandlwana was fought during a partial solar eclipse. Does anyone know of any other battles fought during one?

Just curious ... and don't look directly into it, no need to go blind. <img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

Ack, there is a very important one, but I can't recall what it was. It was an ancient battle, I'm thinking involving the greeks one way or the other. Help here please.

The reason it's so important is that it provides the framework from which we calculate alot of ancient dates (in other words, we can figure out what day the eclipse was... then we have it in our calander and the ancient calander, and can compare the dates) Arrrgh! annoying to remember half the story. Oh well.

We had a great view of it this evening at work ; we borrowed a welding hood and watched it , we hit about 65% coverage here in west Texas. Easy to watch it, we don't have many trees mucking up the horizon!
