Oooooh, the room for a Henny Youngman quote.. but I won't do that to you.

Stefan, I find that it would be most difficult for you to take my wife, as it seems that I am totally unable to find a woman so foolish, so devoid of good sense, so utterly lacking in taste, judgement and character to marry me.

Maybe Fat George will understand it this way?

"Ich werde Ihnen keine Steuern zahlen!"

or ...

"Keine Besteuerung ohne Darstellung!"

perhaps....

"Geben Sie mir Freiheit oder geben Sie mir Tod!"

and last but not least...

"Alles ist Würst!"

(okay, okay so I got a little carried away with the translation program hehehehe...)

It was perfect. Your German is immaculate anyway.

But I also liked it when Al said "No taxation without portrayal".

Dierk,

These online translators are bad! I typed in,

"No taxation without representation!"

I know. I was amazed how much sense the rest made. This one is cute though. Well, a man has to know what he's fighting for. Wonder whether you guys will end the rebellion if we just send over some of our foremost artists and have you all painted in oils ... at least from Captain upwards.

I don't know about the quality of your artists over there, have you looked at Natty Phil's portrait closely?

You bet that's why I included...

"Alles ist Wurst!"

My German teacher taught that to me in 10th grade. "Everything is sausage!" An interesting idea . She was from Liegzig fled from Russian tanks at the end of WWII. She said that roughly it meant, nothing really matters, its all the same.

Yeah, but more with the undertone of "well, dammit, since I can't do anything about it, who cares actually, now shut up and don't bother me with this any longer".

Ah!!! Well that matches her personality to a T !

And is even more appropriate to Monmouth! hehehehehe..... (just kidding Stephan, you played very well in that game.)

Heh, Germans have funny idioms I remember in learning German, we were taught one in a rather difficult accent, Bavarian I think. I know if I try to type the German, I'd butcher it, so the English translation was "whoever can slice a radish well, can also dance well" hehehehe

These children in our colonies are so funny. What a pleasure that they are not so qualified with there rifles than with there mouth
And this great discussion only due to Dierk's announcement of decorations.
