The door of the Tavern opens and the new Lieutenant walks in followed by two privates and a dog. Many Patriots turn and a cheer is raised as his tips his hat to his fellows. In the darkened corner, where the British and their lackies sit hopeing to avoid attention, a low murmur is heard. Wigs are hastily removed as the Valiant War Dog trots by. Nothing Old Blue likes more is chewing on a wig. It has been a while since he was there. He has just returned many fields of slaughter where the result was the wailing and gnashing of teeth by aboriginal women over the tragic loss of their misguided warriors who dared take up arms against the awesome and righteous might of the United States. The comely and buxom bar maid beams with delight as the Lt walks over and slaps a new gold coin on the bar.

From the corner the Indian chief with a red warclub at his belt walks toward the new Lt. He steps towards the dog who bears his teeth and the chief puts his meaty forearm near the dogs bowl. The dutiful hound clamps down on the chiefs arm with a vise like grip intent on not letting go. Calmly, the Indian warrior takes his scalping knife from his belt and quickly and neatly removes the dogs scalp. The dog, bewildered, looks up at the Indian who puts the scalp in the dogs mouth as the chief says.."chew that wig"....the room falls silent as the chief and his warriors walk out into the night.
