Once again I came to tell my Tale of my lust and Adventures in 1806 and early 1807;

Emboldened by this success, Selim issued an order that in the future picked men should be taken annually from the Janissaries to serve in their ranks. Here upon the Janissaries and other enemies of progress rose at Adrianople, and in view of their numbers, exceeding 10,000, and the violence of their opposition , it was decided that the reforms must be given up for the present. Serbia, Egypt and the principalities were successively the scene of hostilities in which Turkey gained no successes, and in 1807 a British fleet appeared at Constantinople, Instead of Turkey’s yielding to Russian demands they dismissed the ambassador’s of Napoleon.

The Anglais fleet solved my problem but a much bigger problem was created, the Turc now had to defend the city of Istanbul from the Southwest.I was unable to rejoin my gun section but with Joc in command of the guns I didn't have to worry plus Monsieur Pool and the garcons working around the clock to get those guns up on the heights looking down on those Anglais ships ready to unload on them. Now that the Turc were at war with the Russie for invading there lands in the west and the Anglais were knocking at the front door things seem thin for us. Sir Daily left weeks before the fleet arrived but his wife who is independently wealthy and working for the Sultan at the University of Istanbul as the dictator of Anglais study stayed tacking care of au.

History fact;
General Horace Sebastiani, had the Sultan to dismissed the pro- Russian stand; accordingly, Selim dismissed the pro-Russian governors of Moldavia and Walachia, a move that Alexander promptly countered by sending an Army of eighty thousand men to occupy these principalities. With a large part of the Russian army tied up in a war with Turkey in 07 forcing him to come to terms with Napoleon.

Sir J.T. Duckworth Admiral of the English fleet made his way past all the fortresses into the Marmora Sea.

Sir J.T. Duckworth 1806
Joc and his guns were ordered to stand on the heights over looking the southwest approaches unable to do any harm to the Anglais fleet he dismantled a section and moved to the beach were he thought that the Anglais would land their marines. He knew that this was a direct disobeying of a general order but he did it any way setting his guns on the heights above the bay of Gallipoli he waited with his section of two 4-pounders and a company of nizam-i-jedid and the French specking Turc Maudi Mustafa. The Anglais red coats made perfect targets for the guns and the nizam-i-jedid who slaughtered many.

The Anglais support ship brought fire on their position killing many of the jedid before Joc moved them to higher ground. Still on the beach the Anglais were trying to gain a foot hold bring up heavier guns then Joc, he had to limber his guns and run leaving the jedid to their own situation. Mustafa held his homme as long as he could before falling back to

When the technical officer heard what Joc did he put Joc under arrest and confined him to his quarters till the battle was over. When the General staff heard that the southwest approaches were held and that a Sergent Major did the bon work they promoted him to acting Capitaine of Artillery,

maybe now this would keep him out of the dragoons!
He came to visit me as I was still convalescing, he called me all kinds of names and told me never ask for him as a aid again! I know Joc this is his manner now that we are both Capitan’s I couldn't put him on charges I guess this was his way of saying this after so many years of my abuse. We laugh and had dinner at the Madame's estate!
For my dueling, the Technical Major made sure that it was entered in my record and the Colonel put in that the dual was in service to their Diplomatic mission. The Major put that I was unfit for duty in time of war, the Colonel summit that I had killed a well know Officer of the Russie Garde de Corps and I got a medal for that.
