The tale Cont:

1806;
The dual was set the Russie didn't know who his opponent would be the Anglais diplomat kept it a secret from his own embassy as well as from his wife. I felt that this was the right time to let L'e Madame know my true feelings about her. Since I was a welcome guest to the Diplomat’s house I took that opportunity to meet her alone, I explain to her that her husband being just a Diplomat and not a soldat. He would be at a disadvantage with this big Russie. I felt honor bound to act as his Emissary, and since I knew that I could never tack her husband place I offered my life for his. She felt taken that a man, whom she just met, could feel so incline to give his life for amour, I told her, but accuse I'm French, without amour life is not worth living. I was also dress in my regular Capitaine of Artillery uniform basic blues. She asked me why would I risk my life for him, I told her that it wasn't for him that I was risking my life but for her happiness that I was doing this, she told me that she was just a ami with the Russie and not a amant, but Madame your relationship with this Russie has made it necessary for your husband to call him out. True she said, it's not my relationship with the Comt'e that my husband is afraid of but the fact that the Russian's are ami of the French here. And he's tacking advantage of your infatuation with me, what an l'imbecile I am Madame, to put my life in japery like this, pardon au, but I still feel this amour for you. Every time I see you my heart beat a little faster, I think of you all the time Madame I told her. When she laid her hand on my breast I knew that I had conquered her feelings. She told me that no one in her whole life has ever express such feeling of amour and no one has ever offered to lay their life down for her happiness. She told me that if I lived though this that she would be my own true love forever and a day. I could hear the songs of Capitaine Rick Jacques in my head the hold time that I was talking to her infect I was repeating one of his songs to her. Now that she saw her husband for what he truly is my next move was to show her what the Russie is, the problem was how!

The scribe sitting at his table appears to be wander lost, a far away look in his eyes. His journal lay before him, his quill pen and ink well resting to the side. The words on the open page read - 'with a look in her eyes like peace; skin like a warm day in June; lips like sweet cherries; her voice as soft as the foam from the ocean.' His lips seemed to be moving, and Helga, thinking that perhaps the man wanted to order something came over to ask. He did not seem to notice, but she could see that he was mumbling something, so she bent low and close to him, to hear what it was he was saying. "She was my Helen of Troy," were the words that she heard. She stood up and smiled gently upon the fellow. Ah, she thought to herself, the man is spell-bound, by the tales of the cheval artillerist.

The first thing that I did was, I dressed myself up like a native and followed the Russie! I waiting outside of his quarters, I was able to find out about this homme, and his habits. I followed him and his comrades to their daily retreat, a Cafe in the bazaar were they enjoyed Turc coffee and the Billy dancers who were Greeks not Muslim and there was a certain Gypsy girl among them that was very familiar with L'e Comte. So familiar that he went to her tent nightly. To show Madame Charlotte that the Russie was only toying with her I ask her to accompany me to that same Bazaar incognito, I told her that it would be fun to play as natives and see how the people live in Bosphorus. Once there we first hand saw how barbaric the Russie are throwing there glass down dancing wildly and chasing the dancing girls around then in the mist of all that was the Comte and his gypsy acting like pure heathens in the mist of this orgy. L'e Madame was horrified at the sight! I asked her to pardon au, for I didn't know that the Russie would be here or for that matter doing such a thing, whisking her away from the Bazaar. Much like Napoleon trying to be the bon ami, showing the Turc that there only true ami is the civilized ways of the new order L'a Emperor. She fell into my open arms and gave me a kiss of a life time saying to me in French "vivre pour ma".

Once again I was bring this tale of Love and Adventure to my young garcon;
Now was the time for the dual the small Frenchmen in his Mameluke uniform on horseback L'e Roller and the Russie taller then most Hussar's more a Garde Hussar, larger then most and more deadly in his Red Hussar uniform on a Blanc steed. Here was a chance for the Anglais to prove to the Turc that the French as well as the Russian were only after her and not trying to be her ami, but what fooled them was the fact that the Frenchman was a Muslim. That above every thing that L'e Emperor did was bon, he got to know the people first before he conquer them he would be every thing to all but nothing to them at the same time. Now it was a barbaric Russian and a cold calculating Englishman trying to steal the love between France that accepts a Muslim ami. How well this fits into General Sebastiani plans for L'e Turc.

History Fact;
Napoleon wrote that Liberty is the need of only a small class, endowed by nature with higher faculties than common men. Equality, on the contrary, is what appeals to the masses

1806;
The Russie horse was a large German cheval but much slower then my Arabian I knew that I had to land the first blow to the Russie exposed knee. As we charged I was very low in the saddle and more to his right side of the charge. He took a powerful swing at me cutting off my feathers at the top of my turban but I got his knee with the Saracen sword, which is not for chopping or braking bones it’s not with the point of the sword that you win but by cutting your opponent up he will bleed to death. On the next pass he got me with a chop to the side opening up my ribs once again but I got him in his thigh I notice how much he was bleeding in his right leg it wouldn't be long before he falls from lost of blood on the next pass I let him swing wild tiring him out by swinging Roller around his larger Cheval. Roller then kicked his mount and then the Russi, in that injured leg and he fell to the ground it was all over he bleed to death were he fell from the cut to his right leg you see the blood is moving though the body on the right side and return to the heart on the left. The Russie broke my ribs and reopen my old wound , L'e Madame took good care of me in spite of her husbands protest .He now looks more the coward then before to her. It's not that I'm a master swordsman but a scientific one knowing were to attack and how wins battles.

History Fact;
June 1808; L'e Emperor wishes to form a portable library of about one thousand books. L'e Emperor also wishes Monsieur Barbier to tack in hand the following piece of work; To draw up accounts of the campaigns that have been fought in the valley of the Euphrates from the time of Crassus down to the eighth century; to indicate on suitable maps the line followed by each army, with the names, ancient and modern, of the chief cities, geographical details, we get the old and historical narratives of each expedition, drawn from the original.

The officer of Tirailleurs and the newly acquainted scribe both seemed to awaken from a dream, and finding themselves back in the tavern, far from the strange lands under the eastern sun, far from the intrigues of the pasha's court, far from the vision of a Russi knight, a French - Mameluke, and Helen of Troy. Here, in the tavern, the evening crowd was bustling about, Helga busy serving the tables of the boisterous officers.
"That was a real bodice ripper, indeed, good sir," the scribe said in obvious delight.
"Here my friends," the Lieutenant handed the scribe and the Cheval artillerist each a glass of wine. "A toast to a wonderful tale, that made us forget the dangers of the present, by invoking the perils & delights of the past." He raised his glass and drank, joined by the scribe.
"Now, where did Josephine get to," the Tirailleur began to cast about the lengthening shadows of the room for the cat.

I could not keep myself from telling this garcon more of my lusty Adventures in the near east. Just maybe I might spark some interests in my own Div. Just as the thoughts ran in my mind a General came walking towards me .He was very refined in his manner, there was no doubt in my mind. That he was one of few who came back when the Emperor pardon the émigrés! “Monsieur you are now part of the III Corps welcome” he said to me! That all he said as he left this Tavern . I knew that he was to much the gentleman to be seen in this place.
1806;

Now that I'm in the Anglais house it's time that I get that old dog out of it. Just as General Sebastiani most rid the Turc of the Russians and the Anglais presents! I knew that Madame Charlotte really loved me by the way she made amore, on a constant basic like she never had amore before in her life. Or that it was never enjoyable to her, I asked her after one of our moments what it is that makes her want me so much. She told me it was what I did and how I did it. I asked her what I did, she told me you were willing to die to be with me. I said oui, I was but in my heart I knew that I could beat that big Russie. You see I remember what I learned from General Moreau, he saw the battle in his head before he fought it, and you most defeat your enemy in your mind first before you face them in reality. If you can't see it then it's impossible to face it! I saw that Russie every move before he made them I knew that he couldn't follow mine, he was unable to counter attack and when he could he was too weak. Now her husband might be another question! Lucky for me that something happen to that situation!

History Fact;
Selim III, Dec. 25, 1761 to July 29, 1808
The talents and energy with which he was endowed had endeared him to the people, and great hopes were founded on his accession. He had associated much with foreigners, and was thoroughly persuaded of the necessity of reforming his state. But Austria and Russia gave him no time for anything but defense, and it was not until the peace of Jassy 1792 that a breathing space was allowed him in Europe, while Napoleon’s invasion of Egypt and Syria soon called for Turkey's strongest efforts and for the time shattered the old- standing French Alliance.

Selim profited by the respite to abolish the military tenure of fiefs; he introduced salutary reforms into the administration, especially in the fiscal department, sought by well -considered plans to extend the spread of Education , and engaged foreign officers as instructors, by whom a small corps of new troops called nizam -i - jedid were collected and drilled. So well were these troops organized that they were able to hold their own against rebellious Janissaries in the European provinces, where disaffected governors made no scruple of attempting to make use of them against the reforming sultan.

Once again I came to tell my Tale of my lust and Adventures in 1806 and early 1807;
Image
Emboldened by this success, Selim issued an order that in the future picked men should be taken annually from the Janissaries to serve in their ranks. Here upon the Janissaries and other enemies of progress rose at Adrianople, and in view of their numbers, exceeding 10,000, and the violence of their opposition , it was decided that the reforms must be given up for the present. Serbia, Egypt and the principalities were successively the scene of hostilities in which Turkey gained no successes, and in 1807 a British fleet appeared at Constantinople, Instead of Turkey’s yielding to Russian demands they dismissed the ambassador’s of Napoleon.
Image
The Anglais fleet solved my problem but a much bigger problem was created, the Turc now had to defend the city of Istanbul from the Southwest.I was unable to rejoin my gun section but with Joc in command of the guns I didn't have to worry plus Monsieur Pool and the garcons working around the clock to get those guns up on the heights looking down on those Anglais ships ready to unload on them. Now that the Turc were at war with the Russie for invading there lands in the west and the Anglais were knocking at the front door things seem thin for us. Sir Daily left weeks before the fleet arrived but his wife who is independently wealthy and working for the Sultan at the University of Istanbul as the dictator of Anglais study stayed tacking care of au.

Image

History fact;
General Horace Sebastiani, had the Sultan to dismissed the pro- Russian stand; accordingly, Selim dismissed the pro-Russian governors of Moldavia and Walachia, a move that Alexander promptly countered by sending an Army of eighty thousand men to occupy these principalities. With a large part of the Russian army tied up in a war with Turkey in 07 forcing him to come to terms with Napoleon.

Image

Sir J.T. Duckworth Admiral of the English fleet made his way past all the fortresses into the Marmora Sea. Image

Sir J.T. Duckworth 1806
Joc and his guns were ordered to stand on the heights over looking the southwest approaches unable to do any harm to the Anglais fleet he dismantled a section and moved to the beach were he thought that the Anglais would land their marines. He knew that this was a direct disobeying of a general order but he did it any way setting his guns on the heights above the bay of Gallipoli he waited with his section of two 4-pounders and a company of nizam-i-jedid and the French specking Turc Maudi Mustafa. The Anglais red coats made perfect targets for the guns and the nizam-i-jedid who slaughtered many.
Image
The Anglais support ship brought fire on their position killing many of the jedid before Joc moved them to higher ground. Still on the beach the Anglais were trying to gain a foot hold bring up heavier guns then Joc, he had to limber his guns and run leaving the jedid to their own situation. Mustafa held his homme as long as he could before falling back to ImageWhen the technical officer heard what Joc did he put Joc under arrest and confined him to his quarters till the battle was over. When the General staff heard that the southwest approaches were held and that a Sergent Major did the bon work they promoted him to acting Capitaine of Artillery, Imagemaybe now this would keep him out of the dragoons!
He came to visit me as I was still convalescing, he called me all kinds of names and told me never ask for him as a aid again! I know Joc this is his manner now that we are both Capitan’s I couldn't put him on charges I guess this was his way of saying this after so many years of my abuse. We laugh and had dinner at the Madame's estate!
For my dueling, the Technical Major made sure that it was entered in my record and the Colonel put in that the dual was in service to their Diplomatic mission. The Major put that I was unfit for duty in time of war, the Colonel summit that I had killed a well know Officer of the Russie Garde de Corps and I got a medal for that.

Ok, how hungry they are for tall tails and short endings, Allied Col story is just a tall tail spin by a BON story teller. I will come back when the tall tail is over bonsoirl
